Alexey Kavokin Became Honorary Doctor of Russian-Armenian University
By resolution of the Academic Board of Russian-Armenian University, Professor of the University of Southampton, UK, Alexey Kavokin was awarded with the title Doctor honoris causa of the Russian-Armenian University for his outstanding contribution to the study of the electronic and optical properties of quantum nanostructures and scientific cooperation with RAU.
During the awarding ceremony, RAU Rector Prof. Armen Darbinyan highlighted that science should be the basis for the progress of the counry, nation and society.
Prof. Alexey Kavokin is a Chair of Nanophysics and Photonics at the University of Southampton since 2005. He also acts a Head of the Spin Optics Laboratory at the State University of Saint-Petersburg and as a Scientific Director of the Mediterranean Institute of Fundamental Physics. His main research topics include spintronics, exciton-polaritons in semiconductor microcavities, indirect excitons, photonic structures, superconductivity, magnetism. Prof. Kavokin authored more than 200 research papers and 2 monographs.
