Bio-medical Department

Bio-medical Department was established in 2004. The acting dean of the department is doctor of biological sciences, professor – H.R. Vardapetyan.

The department has two specialties – “Medical Biochemistry” and “Bioengineering & Bioinformatics” and three chairs – “Medical Biology and Bioengineering”, “General and Pharmaceutical Chemistry” and “Molecular – Cellular and Informational Biology”. Our department includes 6 core departmental members and 42 affiliates.

The Department actively coordinates and interfaces with Programs at the University and other Universities to facilitate biomedical research and opportunities in areas such as biomedical instrumentation, bioengineering, biotechnology and bioinformatics. The biomedical engineering program draws from core disciplines such as engineering, biology, computer science, physics, chemistry, and physiology emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach to research and education.

Students are prepared to work in various diagnostic laboratories in the field of medical genetics, medical cosmetology and physiotherapy, as well as in the fields of biotechnology and bioinformatics.

The department uses technical base and highly skilled experts of the leading scientific and clinical centers of Armenia. After completion of basic educational program the graduates can continue their education in internship and postgraduate study on their profession.
