About RAU
Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University is a unique educational institution, the very existence of which is an excellent example of integration into the sphere of education.
RAU offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs as well as innovative career-focused degree courses. RAU is the centre of Russian education, science and culture in the Republic of Armenia and in the Transcaucasian region on the whole.
RAU was established in 1997 based on the agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia. It was accredited on April 29th, 2005 by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
The provision of high-quality training of RAU students, preparation of highly qualified specialists, who correspond to the demands of the new century, is considered to be a significant task for the University. The implementation of it becomes possible due to the best specialists from the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation.
Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University started with only one general department in 1999. It presently university has11 departments. The University is managed both by the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia and has the status of higher state educational institutions of countries. RAU graduates receive Russian and Armenian state diplomas.
Starting from 2007-2008 academic year, the University is shifting to the credit-ratings system. RAU is presently a recognized University in the sphere of the humanities, natural and applied sciences and is committed to promoting the educational development throughout Russian and Armenian cultural frontiers. RAU appears to be an attractive option for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Since November 1st, 2001 the University President has been Mr. Armen Darbinyan, Former Prime-Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, member of National Academy of Science of Armenia.
